We are a global, diverse, multicultural team with deep expertise in ethical AI

Our core

We bring diverse genders, ethnicities and perspectives from the US, UK, EU and Asia. Our varied viewpoints on technology are our strength.

Our background

We’ve worked across financial services, tech, media, CPG, government, non-profits, and education. With 20+ years in tech, we write books, build robots, and have run global businesses.

Our expertise

We formed from the Masters in AI Ethics at the University of Cambridge’s Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence, with all founders engaged in cutting-edge AI ethics research. Our expertise gives us deep insight into global trends in ethical AI.

Our purpose

AI can improve the world if used ethically and safely. We make ethical AI practical and accessible for everyone.

[  CHAIRMAN  ]

Yu-Ting Kuo

There’s nothing Yu-Ting doesn’t know about AI (chat to him for five minutes and you’ll see what we mean). He founded and led Microsoft’s Azure AI division, is now a Professor at MIT, and lectures at Oxford. A Big Tech expert and one of the most approachable technologists you’ll meet, he’s the tech brain behind EthicAI—our very own AGI.

[  CEO  ]

Tanya Goodin

Tanya is a serial entrepreneur and the very definition of ‘early adopter’. She founded her first digital business the same year as Google and Amazon, and queued up to get her eager mitts on one of the very first iPhones in the UK. She’s also the author of five books on how humans interact with technology which is coming in handy. She’s EthicAI’s driver and trailblazer— our AI engine.

[  DIRECTOR  ]

Nikhil Kaul

Shhh, Nik isn’t all that keen on being known as our ‘corporate’ guy. But the truth is he’s been making stuff happen in technology and product leadership inside global organisations all his working life, making him perfect for really getting under the skin of our clients’ challenges. But you won’t get any corporate speak or gobbledegook from him, he’ll tell you like it is and we love him for it. He’s EthicAI’s LLM but with none of the weird hallucinations.

[  CONSULTANT  ]

Nicole Veash

We have a lot of very talented people in EthicAI and they are all glued together by our linchpin, Nicole. Hugely talented herself, she’s made her career in global leadership and talent development roles and she always seems to have a sixth sense of what individuals need to excel. Her passion is for how AI can be used for culture change and organisational challenges. And she keeps us supplied with chocolate which is a key requirement for a start-up.

[  CONSULTANT  ]

Alva Markelius

We think Alva is utterly brilliant and it seems plenty of people agree. She was voted one of the Top 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics™ globally for 2024. Her ‘thing’ is social robotics but she’s across every other area of AI ethics and presents and writes in four languages which puts the rest of us to shame (hanging our collective heads). If we’re honest we find it hard to keep up with her. If she’s working on your business challenge or opportunity, you’re going to get a solid technical grounding with a fresh and exciting take.

[  CONSULTANT  ]

Tessel van Oirsouw

Wow. Straight from Cambridge into a Fellowship at Harvard via a stretch at the EU Commission and the UK public sector, we’re wondering if there’s anything Tessel can’t do (we haven’t found it yet though we keep throwing challenges at her). She leads our policy work and loves to get stuck into knotty governance and compliance problems with the global perspective that comes from having worked across the EU, US and UK. We’re lucky to have her and you will be too.
