AI assurance helps start-ups and scale-ups identify what AI solutions work with their business size, operations, and long-term vision. We assisted one of our scale-up clients mitigate the risks of adopting AI into their growth strategy.

Problem

A people development platform in its scale-up phase came to us with a question. The company was exploring whether they could automate some services provided by human professionals to keep up with the growth of their business. However, the leadership team recognised that replacing humans with AI could potentially create risks. They wanted to understand those risks and used the AI assurance platform to evaluate their proposed AI-enabled solution whilst it was still in the design stage – to ensure their solution would enhance user experience, rather than impede it.

Solution

The AI assurance process enabled their solution to be evaluated against risk dimensions important in social AI and human-computer interaction. After risk scores and recommendations were reviewed,  the platform’s leadership identified what services could be complemented with AI and which still required a human touch. That helped clarify the principles that should guide their development and deployment processes  – setting up a targeted mitigation strategy for short- and long-term risk.

Impact

Through going through the AI assurance process, the leaderhsip team identified a way to efficiently scale the platform’s services and future proof their operations without increasing operational or reputational risks. They ensured their product design would preserve their core values around user trust and engagement which ultimately sets the platform apart in the market.
